Abdominoplasty is a surgery based on removing excess skin and creating a tight abdomen in cases where the abdominal skin is loose and saggy.
Since the removal of excess skin is a scarring procedure, it is ensured that the scar is left as little as possible, in the bikini area. In cases where only the underbelly part of the abdominal skin shows a limited amount of slack, the belly is left intact and only the underbelly part is stretched, while liposuction is applied to the upper part of the belly if necessary. This procedure is called "mini abdominoplasty".
However, since this will not be enough, we perform "full abdominoplasty", that is, full tummy tuck, for most of our patients. What is done here is, this time, by cutting the connection of the umbilical pit with the abdominal skin, the released abdominal skin is widely pulled down from the thorax.
Thus, while much more skin is removed from below, all cracks below the navel level are removed and a more taut abdomen can be obtained. During the aesthetic procedure, if necessary, a tightening of the abdominal muscles (rectus muscle plication) is also performed. As a result, additional skin thinning and final corrections are made with liposuction on the front and sides of the tightened abdomen.
